Flooring

Hardwood, engineered, laminate, luxury vinyl and tile — installed over a subfloor that's been checked, not assumed.

Overview

Most flooring complaints — hollow spots, squeaks, cupping, cracked grout lines — trace back to the subfloor, the moisture content or the expansion gap, not the product.

We check subfloor flatness and moisture before anything is opened, let material acclimatise, and install to the manufacturer's spec so the warranty actually stands.

What we do

  • Solid hardwood
  • Engineered hardwood
  • Laminate
  • Luxury vinyl plank and tile
  • Porcelain and ceramic tile
  • Natural stone tile
  • Subfloor levelling and repair
  • Moisture barriers and underlay
  • Stair treads and nosings
  • Transitions and trim
  • Baseboard and quarter round
  • Tear-out and disposal

Subfloor first

Flatness checked with a straightedge and corrected with levelling compound or sanding — not hidden under thicker underlay.

Moisture

Concrete slabs tested before glue-down or floating installs. Skipping this is how a basement floor cups six months later.

Layout

Runs set out from the sightline that matters, so you don't end up with a sliver rip at the room's focal wall.

Tile detail

Proper uncoupling or backer where it's called for, consistent joint width, and grout colour agreed before the bag opens.

Questions

Straight answers.

Can you install over my existing floor?

Sometimes — floating floors can go over sound, flat, well-bonded tile or vinyl. We check condition and height at door openings first.

How long should flooring acclimatise?

Typically 48–72 hours in the room it's going into, with the heat on. Manufacturer spec wins where it differs.

Do you move furniture?

Yes, we can — it's quoted as part of the job. Anything fragile or high-value is better handled by you.

Do you do basements?

Yes. Below grade we steer toward vinyl plank or tile over a moisture barrier rather than solid hardwood, for reasons that show up in year two.
